Institutionalizing Culturally Responsive Practices
Moving Forward
Now that you have identified your place in the system and are familiar with the change implementation process, it’s time for you to plan how you are going to use your spheres of control and influence to do your part in making culturally responsive early intervention practices the norm in our field. I encourage you to mindfully commit to institutionalizing culturally responsive changes whether it’s at the interaction level with the clients you serve, in a leadership role at a local EI organization, or at state, or federal level. Just remember that while you have made it to the end of this book (and the coursework or professional development there is no end to the work of becoming more culturally responsive, because culture and the demographics of our communities are ever changing, leaving us with unlimited opportunities to build our skills. My hope is you will institutionalize the framework to support your lifelong learning.
