Appendix: Technical Editing Questionnaire

  1. Theme Choice: looking at this page, which theme do you want?
    1. Malala has the advantage of color differentiation in the chapters
    2. Jacobs is more bland, but more readability-friendly for individuals with dyslexia
  2. Chapter Titles
    1. Do you want Chapter Numbers to show?
    2. Do you want Chapter Titles to show?
    3. Do you want chapter titles/sections to show on each page? Example from The Whole Child (in the upper right corner)
  3. Glossary – will we be utilizing the glossary feature in PressBooks?
    1. If you are interested in using the glossary, please highlight/recolor words in the text where you want glossary terms to be added during the upload process and provide a glossary document for accurate importing of definitions
  4. Textboxes
    1. Please determine how many textbox types will be utilized in your text. If possible, during drafting, please consistently label the types to match the ones discussed here.
    2. Determine if you want a color theme. The colors in the PST Showcase chapter are Pressbooks’ default except for the example of customization by one of the authors.
  5. Attribution
    1. This option is available to all authors, though we recommend for authors nearing completion to take the automated attribution option because creating custom attribution is much easier while you’re writing.
  6. Details
    1. The details tag allows for a more streamlined and user interactive webpage. If utilizing the details tag, please identify the content that is meant to be behind the details tag.
      1. Identify the start and the end of the content meant to be behind the tag.
