1 Chapter Titles
There are two main decisions that need to be made for the chapters that affects the design layout of the page:
- Should the chapter show the title on the page?
- Does the chapter have a number?
By default, PressBooks includes chapter numbers and titles (see this chapter’s title). However, for both of these decisions, the title takes up screen real estate which may be better served focusing on the content. Additionally, numbered chapters add a mandated order of reading which may or may not be useful for the book content.
Note: A chapter without a title but having a number may be awkward-looking. It is recommended to not have numbered chapters without titles.
