Remixing Open Textbooks through an Equity Lens (ROTEL) Project is a three year Department of Education grant-funded project that provides stipends, training, and support for faculty at six Massachusetts public higher education institutions to create free open educational resources (OER) textbooks and adaptations of existing open textbooks. Faculty will develop the textbooks using an equity and inclusion lens. The project will result in significant savings for students and higher academic outcomes if free, accessible, intentionally inclusive, open culturally-relevant textbooks and other OER that reflect students’ local and lived experiences are available to them.
The six participating institutions with the DHE:
- Fitchburg State University
- Framingham State University
- Holyoke Community College
- Northern Essex Community College
- Salem State University
- Springfield Technical Community College
- Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (DHE)
The contents of the OERs do not necessarily represent the policy of the Department of Education, and an endorsement by the Federal Government should not be assumed.
