Welcome OpenEd23 Participants!

Whether you have found this version of Reading and Writing Successfully through joining us at our OpenEd23 session or watching the recording later or some other path, we’d like to welcome you to this site.

In this OpenEd23 version, we have stripped down the full version of the textbook to make it easier to find and focus on the exercises and assets relevant to our conference presentation, “Embrace the Power of ‘And’: Accessibility for All Learners.” Once the presentation is made publicly available, we’ll include a link here. The chapters and pages herein are from the full version, but they appear in the order of the presentation, not the order of the original. At the beginning of each, you’ll see text in italics and indigo that explain the point of its inclusion vis-à-vis the presentation.

We hope that you find these examples illustrative of the approach to accessibility that we describe in that presentation. We also hope that these examples encourage you to explore the ways that “and” can help the learners you work with.

You can find the full version of the textbook on the ROTEL Pressbooks site. You won’t find these versions of exercises and assets in that version — yet. The perfect is the enemy of the good, and Patricia made the decision to publish in time for the Spring 2023 semester, even though not everything was done. Version 2 will be coming “soon.” Consider this a teaser of some of the changes that will appear in that version.

But then, we’re sure it won’t be “done” then, either.

Enjoy!
